Specchio-Mirror
Specchio-Mirror
This work starts from the idea of bringing together the world of adults with the world of children, and the world of children with art. In a society where art is just for a few people, often closed in small inaccessible castes, who is truly interested in the creativity if not the children? Analyzing childhood, and different philosophers say it, children are significantly higher than the adults. Sure, they are vulnerable, they have no education, but they have an incredible weapon that is the spontaneity. This is the thing that more than everything else we have to learn from them. Looking at the many expressions of their faces is obvious as they are indisputably true, in a better or worse way, a child will never be a snob, a racist or a faux intellectual, maybe he will be cruel, but anyway himself. So I decided to create a series of works of art and then give the same materials and inputs to the children, because they are the real artists, and see what they do. I speak of frivolity in my work, but children are more advanced, they don't need to be flashy to be happy, they are already living as they are. In this context, I thought to take any object that talks about the world of adults that doesn't like particularly to children, it could be a phone or a gun, it should be the child himself to choose it, in this case there is a pack of cigarettes. Inside I put a mirror that rappresented the comparison that is happening. The collages rappresented the reality, sometimes vulgar, sometimes comic, violent or full of value, with randomness, as with a television remote control, we projected on our children. All covered with glitter and fake diamonds, my recipe of frivolity that can help us to live better, more lightly and by living the moment. In the background, the various expressions of children, angry or happy. I sewed the canvas to represent the love of mothers that for centuries did this small gestures to celebrate a new birth. These funny spherical animals distroy the pack of cigarettes, which symbolizes the psycological strutteres that we have built, to bring us back to our childhood, where we could be happy just for a soap bubble (and not only for the new phone).
